Mill owners and power factories using Hydro power as the only energy have criticized power department for its conventional approach, negligence and lack of planning to tackle shortfall. The same is the case of Hunza, especially that of Central, Lower Hunza-Nagar where electricity is daring with every year. Here too, Power department and elected representation has kept little emphasis over the resolution of this issue. As a result, numerous testing industrial sectors like that of Information Computer Technology, power driving factories seems themselves in trouble waters as the area now a days turned a heaven on earth into a technological hell. Neither political leadership nor concerned department's officials are ready to accept the responsibility of lake of proper planning. The only hydro power generating plant with two kilo watt capacity is the only source of energy for more than 30,000 population of Central and Lower Hunza. Interestingly, our various past public representatives who remained in power used to blame concerned authorities for poor planning over. According to engineering experts, more than Rs.250 million needed for the construction of a new hydro power generating plant from ADP. Taking the annual fund being provided to every member of the legislative assembly with a lump sum amount of Rs. 50 million per year makes around 250 million rupee for the 5 year tenure of the every member. In this way, it seems difficult to accomplish such a costly project for the member of a specific area has dozens of projects from hundreds proposed. For this a special fund from the fiscal year's budget must be kept to ensure accomplishment of such projects in various parts of the region facing acute energy shortage as it is one of the most vital source of daily life in this backward areas where natural gas supply via pipe line is still unknown to the population in 21st century.Pakistan Peoples Party's led regional government, which no doubt has exposed to a big challenge in form of Attaabad disaster, yet, it would have to focus on proper utilization of available natural sources especially that of fund for developmental projects to create a balance between what it preach and does.
We would like to urge the both to propose a special project in the next three years to ensure generation of energy according to the population's demand and chalk out a plan for reduction of shortfall through out the year.

The law and order situation in Gilgit city particularly, with sectarian in nature since 1988, when hundreds of innocent people from both sides were murdered was not satisfactory. The current raise in remuneration of the personnel of the department has resulted in backdrop of severe criticism by opposition benches on one hand and the police personnel themselves who not refused to render their duties but also warned to go on strike across the region. Employees of police department expressed their approval to the increment by dancing over folk tunes in front of the provincial headquarter. The acceptance of the demand of police personnel to double their remuneration to cater daily needs, police department which has had referred their weak performance because of low salaries against lengthy duties that made for a justification to overlook law and order situation, least control over theft cases, drug mafia and land grabbers in Gilgit city and out skirt should be change. Presence of black sheep which hardly respect ethical norms has made a common man to keep little confidence over any process done behind the veil of legal actions against any injustice and crime.
A close observation of the country's policing structure discloses dozens of brutality cases when suspects before legal proceedings were either handicapped or murdered during interrogations. Nevertheless, except few cases, Gilgit-Baltistan police has a positive image for its better attitude as compared to other provinces. Change, which is a basic feature of human life and the trends namely involvement of certain police personnel in extortion cases, acceptance of bribes from criminal elements, smuggling to earn by any means in down cities may gradually overcome the traditions of police personnel remained contented with their respective salaries with little increment for past many years in mountain regions like Gilgit-Baltistan in the country. Such an increase in their allowances and basic pay would help them balance an imbalance house-hold budget to defuse pressure of high inflation and decreasing purchasing power. Gilgit-Baltistan government using its mandate has fulfilled its promise made with the protesters a week ago against 50% increase.
With this increment in their reward for services, it was a test to judge performance of police department who cried of low salaries against their services. Authorities besides guaging performance to dispense its duties, it may need to identify certain elements that serve to hurt the image of the department through involving in criminal or anti social activities secretly. We can expect that this vital department would leave no stone to deliver their most with letter and spirit and according to the exceptions of masses of this poor region.

Load shedding once ended for all gave a hope of good days have perished our dreams. Hardly a single project either this or former regime could accomplished to facilitate population who help them to rule this area. Mere a single hydro power plant insufficient for our needs.
