VoH : Would you please let us know about your academic and professional career?
Sheharyar: Well, I passed my matriculation and higher secondary examination from International American Shcool Islamabad. I applied for graduate studies abroad and got admission in University of Texas, at Austin. After graduation, I earned Master in Arts (M.A) with economics and finance under external degree programme followed by a diploma in computing from University of London. I got an internship opportunity for one year with US senate, during ex-president Bill Clinton's reign. Later, I joined and worked at Standard Charter Bank in primary banking, wealth and private equity management, Dubai for more than five years.
VoH : People of Hunza elected many members for the assembly in past but many thing remained unchange due to lack of vision in leadership. What is your vision tobring a visible change in the constituency?
Sheharyar: I am not gonna describe my vision in detailed or individually. I personally feel that Hunza needs a rational, couragous, proactive and sincere leader and who has access to higher authority without any restriction to address the issues of masses. Here, I mean that construction of a bridge or road is not big achievement in today's world; even a district councillor can do that, the main thing is to address those all issues having long term impacts and has a due share in development and impowerment of the people. The vary first task I shall undertake will be undue efforts to take Hunza the next level seeking constitutional cover. That, I believe, will served to consolidate the area.
VoH : Many new parties have entered the region and nominated their candidates across Gilgit-Baltistan. Do you think that it will benefit the area?
Sheharyar: Well, there are many old parties that have a long history in regional politics. As for the inception of new parties are concered, people are well aware politically and socialy. They would accept the influence of any party that want to serve masses.I think that leadership sould be accessable to a comon man directly or indirectly. But, if the topleadership is abroad how is it possible that the party will work for the specific area.
VoH : The biggest challenge before a winning candidate is to come to the expactations of the people. What would be your approach to reconcile it?
Sheharyar: See, I think that today's youth are more aware than before. And I have a strong
belief that they realize that they should support a young leader who knows about their problems. I shall try to get double qouta in education, police services, public services or at least equivalent to that of Nagar.
VoH : Suppose, the rulling party denies the demand of additional seat and refer it on will of the new legislative assembly. What you would be your stance to get the long standing demand fulfilled? Sheharyar: Definitely, dialogue is a democratic mean to address the issue on forum. Boycot or any kind of uncivilized agitation will no work.I do not say any reason, why, based on logic, that rulling party should deny the demand of additional seat to Hunza under the new reform package. Its population exceeds the limit that restrict an area to a single representation.
VoH : There is a lack of proper planning for educated youth which has caused to increase unemployment ratio in the region. What is your strategy to tackle it?
Sheharyar: Well, Pakistan has a a very successful establishment called The Overseas Pakistan Foundation (OPF) that provide eligible Pakistani youth educational and job opportunities and offers scholarships to deserving students. I shall try to initiate a new programme for students of Gilgit-Baltistan by inducting into varous disciplines abroad. I shall try to give Hunza, status of district separtely.
VoH : Many new projects in health and education sector are facing shortage of required staff. What did you plan for it in future?
Sheharyar: We shall appeal government to appoint the required number of respective department or organization. In case of lack of funds we shall allocated more funds for education sector to fill the gap.
VoH : Tourism, the main economy of the region is in inertia. What step would you take to improve the situation as a cure?
Sheharyar: Well, the first work I shall do is expansion and upgradation of Gilgit air port to international airport so that tourists may arive directly to Gilgit-Baltistan all togather avoiding the conflict areas and hopefully, besides that the in Pakistan should ease up soon.
VoH :Thank you very much for sharing few movements from your prcious time
Sheharyar: You're always welcome.
