NDMA Mission takes the day to shift necessities and medicines to Upper; Government is doing more than what was expected: Wazir Baig Hunza

HUNZA, Feb.02: Helicopter of National Disaster Management Authority continued to shift necessesities on Thursday right from early morning to the late afternoon to Upper Hunza.Local volunteers and government officials are playing active role in disaster relief operations.
According to Major Babar and co-pilot of National Disaster Management varoius necessties like Flour bags, seeds, pulses, sugar, salt, coocking oil etc. were shifted from Aliabad to Shishkat and Gulmit. Besides, two persons having higly emergency were allowed for uplift in every turn. Doctor Khuwaja Khan, President Ismaili Council, Doctor Aslam Shah, Engineer Zameer Abbas, assistant commissioner subdivision Hunza, majistrate and others were also supervising the relief operations.
Later,
Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly Wazir Baig, General Farooq, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other officials visited disaster hit areas on Thursday. In the evening they expressed their satisfaction over disaster relief work in Upper Hunza and affectees of Attaabad village. Talking to voice of Hunza, Wazir Baig claimed that government is doing even more than what was expected by people- that is in time provision of neccessisities of life, basic health facilities and disaster prevention measures. Mr. Baig said that those who are playing with the sentiments of the people want to create obstacles in government's work to divert its attention. " None will be allowed to mislead people with baseless agitation by retrogressive forces in the society in the name of rights," he added. General Farooq said that NDMA is workig in collabration with other goverent bodies is working earnestly to serve those in troubles.
Governor seeks cooperation of ulema and politicians for inter-communal harmony

KARACHI, Feb.02: Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Doctor Shama Khalid has said that inter communal- harmony is one of the main objective to foster the feelings of brotherhood among the people of the region. Talking to journalists, she said that she has accepted the office of Governor as a challenge saying that she will try her best to come to the expectations of the people. She said that steps will be taken to patronize tourism Dr. Shama said that valleys of the region are famous across the world; K2 and Ferry Medows are icons of attraction to the toursists which in turn serve influx of reveneue. She said that a women university is indespensible for the empowerment and development of woman. She also express determination for establishment of medical college to address the long standing demand of the region.

in the Gilgit city has been tightened following an assassination of an Assistant Tehsildar in Basin town limits of Gilgit city. According to the details Tehsildar Akber, was assassinated by unknown armed men in Basin town limits on Monday.Paramilitary troops have been deployed at various entrance spots for snap checkings. On the otherhand the commercial activities in the city specially hottle industry has suffered a mjor setback due to tense appearing onintervals.

GILGIT, April, 02: An emergency meeting of Coordination Committee for Affectees Gojal was held here in Gilgit. Speakers criticized government especially Natural Disaster Management Authority for taking pleasure tours in the name of relief. Participants also slammed government ineficiency to issue formal notification of clamity hit status to Gojal saying despite passing of fifteen days, no such development was occurred. Speakers demanded of government to issue notification immediately. Committee denounce recent visit of NDMA officials, Speaker GBLA Wazir Baig and ex-member GBLA Nazir sabir saying it aimed to hoodwink people to show that people of the disaster hit areas were satisfy to the government performance and role in relief work. They also demanded of government to provide health facilities at Gulmit General hospital to facilitate people.
