Man of Hunza gets crown of Martyrdom

HUNZA, Oct. 13:Jalaluddin: A commando soldier of Pakistan army Muhammad Ayub Khan, son of Muhammad Ismail Khan who was seriously injured in an ambush with terrorists during attack on Army Headquarters, Rawalpindi passed away a day before yesterday.
He was taken to home village Hyderabad via helicopter and burried with all military awards and appreciations. The news of his death spread hastly and the town sank into grief. He, like his father was one of of socially active and popular person for philanthropic work for community. His father expressed feeling of a great pleasure for his son laid his life for the cause of home land, mixed with grief of death.

Nomination papers of four candidates out of 25 rejected in Hunza alone

GILGIT, Oct.11, 2009: Returning officers appointed to regulate forthcomming elections have rejected twenty one papers of intending candidates leaving field clear for the rest. According to the reliable sources 384 candidates filled the forms in 24 vacinities to contest the elections across the region. Among the rejected candidates are: Syed Amjad Ali, Zafar Iqbal, Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, Mirza Muahammad, Bhaduruddin Badarm Karim Ahmed Shah, Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Nawaz Khan Naji and few other condidates.
Official sources told VoH that Minhas Hussain, returnin g officer for Hunza subdivision has formally rejected after scrutiny nomination of four out of twenty five candidates for ward 06. Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan and Prince Saleem Khan have volunteerily withdrawn their nomination papers. Zafar Iqbal, serving managing director of a government run transport corporation and Karimullah Baig's papers have been rejected against certain reasons.
Among those who get their nomination papers approved are: Attiqa Ghazanfar Ali, Mirbaz Khan, Naiknam, Ijlal Hussain, Daulat Karim, Salman Arif, Lal Hussain, Wazir Baig, Rahmat ullah Baig, Shehbaz Khan, Sheryar Khan, Arif Hussain, Abuzar Ali, Abass Khan, Bahadur Khan, Aziz Ahmed, Ghadeer Shah, Fazal Rabbani, Waheed Murad, Kamil Jan, Rozdarullah and Hidayat Muhammad. During scrutiny, in Skardu, nomination papers of Syed Amjad Ali and Syed Muhammad ALi Shah from ward 2 were rejected. In Ghizar papers of five candidates from vacinity 1 and four from vacinity three have been rejected. Riqam Tariq, returning officer,on objection of Pir Karam Ali Shah, against nomination papers of four candidates: Nawaz Khan Naji, Karimullah, Murtaza Khan and contractor Mirza Muhammad for being defaulters of financial institutions.
Election commission had announced few weeks ago that those who are defaulters of any institution are ineligible to contest election. While Luqman Hakeem Civil judge, returning officer-Vacinity 2, has accepted nomination papers of all 25 members without any objection. . Updates from Astore, Diamar and Ghizar are still not recieved.

GAHKUCH, Oct. 11: Altaf Hussain Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement has said that MQM is a party of poor and middle class. Those who join it have to walk on horns. The movement is not a bed of roses but requires hard struggle. He exprssed these views while addressing party leaders and activists at Gahkuch headqarter via telephone. He advises City Nazim Mustafa Kamal and doctor Farooq Sattar, fedederal ministe to visit Gilgit-Baltistan to encourage ticket holders of party to represent in respective assembly.
