Title: Regional Coordinator – Kailash Sacred Landscape Conservation Initiative
Division/Unit: Environmental Change and Ecosystem Services (ECES)
Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal – with frequent travel
Background
The Regional Coordinator will:
* Manage close coordination of activities among the partners from the three participating countries of China, India, and Nepal, especially maintaining liaison with the Lead Partners from each of the countries;
* Take responsibility to initiate, manage, and coordinate various regional project activities, as well as for developing a regional synthesis and other reporting requirements;
* Build capacity to promote an ecosystem management framework and regional approaches among partner organisations;
* Enable and support partner organisations to practice and facilitate regional and national collaboration, partnerships, and networking;
* Enable and support dissemination of results and research findings to targeted partners at the national level, and to high-level representatives of regional member countries and other stakeholders;
* Work as a team player within ICIMOD to seek support from other relevant units as well as provide support to other activities in order to promote interdisciplinarity. Work closely with colleagues within the ECES programme and maintain professional collaboration with colleagues from the Water and Livelihoods programmes to contribute to the learning and sharing environment of ICIMOD and to the development of ICIMOD as a fully integrated mountain development centre.
* At least a Masters degree in environmental science, natural resources management or international development studies
* At least five years experience in a multi-disciplinary programme/project management position some of which should be in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region
* Familiar with the issues related to biological and cultural conservation, sustainable development of mountain communities, and the main drivers of change (globalisation, development, migration, tourism, climate change)
* Good leadership qualities and excellent communication skills in English; spoken and/or writing skills in another Asian language will be an asset
* Cooperative and target-oriented management style; experience of working in an inter-disciplinary team is desirable

Key Tasks
1. Coordinate POB related activities through support by Ministry of Health AJK
2. Arrange & conduct sessions on prevention of blindness
3. Effective coordination with the stakeholders
4. Conduct and facilitate eye camps in the project area
5. Integrate project activities with core program of Islamic Relief
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management/Supervision:
· Management and monitoring of project at different levels
· Planning and reviewing the activities undertaken in the project area.
· Managing, improving and maintaining the quality and impact of the programme
· Conduct & manage the sessions on the project
- Managing of patients in the camp
- Maintain effective working relationships with IR field staff in the program area
- Supervise and facilitate process of purchase of medicine and medical equipments as per needs of the project
Reporting and Documentation:
· Making quarterly plan and preparing of monthly and quarterly reporting
· Coordination with stakeholders at district & AJK level
· Timely submission of all reports to the relevant Supervisors
· Making case studies, presentations and any other task assigned by the supervisors
Health Advocacy Activities:
· Conduct sessions for community on prevention of blindness issues
· Conduct & manage health/eye camps
· Conduct classes in education institutions and staff workshops on health, hygiene promotion sessions
· Conducting refreshers courses for staff.
Professional Experience
Minimum two years of experience in relevant field
Skills
£ Good written and communication skill in English, Urdu
£ Excellent time management skills to meet project target.
£ Good IT skills to include Excel, Word, Power point
£ Able to work autonomously and collaboratively, leading and as part of a team.
£ The post holder must, additionally, have a strong commitment to a positive representation of the organization goal.
